No one is a refugee by choice. Refugees and internally displaced people are forced to flee their homes out of fear for their lives and liberty. Many live in crowded camps, waiting for peace and an opportunity to return home. Some can return after a few weeks while other spend their entire lives hoping for the chance to rebuild their lives with dignity.
About the Sponsored Family:
Centennial will welcome our refugee family soon! They will arrive in Calgary on November 7, 2019.
As a congregation we’re able to privately sponsor refugees through the Presbyterian Church in Canada, which is a Sponsorship Agreement Holder with the Canadian government. And since we’re a registered charity, all donations are eligible for tax receipts.
Note: At this moment, we only support refugee sponsorship project within our congregation.
Our Second Refugee Project was approved at the Congregational Meeting on October 13, 2019.
