Centennial congregation is unique in that it is the most culturally diverse Presbyterian Church in Canada! As a result, the mission work at Centennial is varied and far-reaching. We are blessed to have folks from such areas as India, Africa, Asia, South America and the Caribbean.
Eyeglasses for the Philippines
Eyeglasses are collected in an ongoing project called ‘Eyeglasses for the Philippines’. One of our members makes sure these are delivered to the Philippines, helping improve the eyesight of many. We accept all types of glasses, sunglasses, and cases.
East Gambella Synod
Currently we are supporting 20 orphan children in Gambella, Ethiopia. Every year, in August, we send them funds for their school supplies and we also support the East Gambella Synod.
Operation Christmas Child - Samaritan’s Purse
Each year we support Operation Christmas Child by providing shoeboxes for children around the world.
Here is the link to the Samaritan’s Purse website listing the items you can put in the shoeboxes
What Goes in My Shoebox? - Samaritan's Purse Canada (samaritanspurse.ca)
This year we collected 48 shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child.
Stamps for Freedom - Canadian Bible Society
At Centennial, we have a box in the sanctuary to collect used stamps. These are then donated to the Canadian Bible Society where they are sold to raise money for bibles.
Here’s how our Stamps for Freedom Program works:
Stamps collected from donations across Canada are combined to create charity boxes and are sold to stamp collectors and vendors.
The revenue generated from the stamps allows CBS to purchase Bibles for the Canadian prison ministry.
10 lbs of stamps = approx 6 Bibles for distribution
Instructions for collecting
Keep the stamp on the envelope
Cut out the stamp leaving a 1/4 inch border around the entire stamp
Ask your church congregation to collect their stamps
Make a box as a collection vestibule
We also accept personal collections that are already in books, binders, etc.
If mailing to CBS please ask for Stamps to be put on the package vs. the electronic metering – we will collect those stamps and add them to the boxes.
