What to expect

Located just off 56 Street NE, we have a parking lot adjacent to the church, so finding a spot is easy. Feel free to arrive a few minutes early to check in your kids before the worship gathering starts.

At Centennial, Children’s programming for Age 3 through 12th grade is available during worship gathering. Safety for children is a top priority. All of our volunteers have been screened with detailed background checks as well as trained to make church a fun and safe environment for your kids!

Centennial Youth Group is for students who are in 6th grade and beyond. We are a group of students and leaders who are reaching up in worship, reaching in to build community and reaching out to serve the world.

During our worship gathering we sing songs, read prayers together, and listen to a teaching from our minister. The gathering lasts about 70 minutes.

We're excited to meet you! Feel free to hang out after the gathering to meet our staff and connect with others. If you have any questions about your visit, please contact us at centennialminister@gmail.com.

Worship

Always a culturally diverse congregation, we rejoiced the creation of the Anyuak speaking ministry. Currently we have two services on Sundays, the English speaking service in the morning and the Anyuak speaking service in the afternoon.

Centennial has been successful in moving to a blended worship service over the last few years.  The tone is informal but respectful.  There is room for variety, honouring the diversity of the congregation.  With the help of our choir and gifted, flexible music director we are a singing congregation.  Music and message complement each other.  Worship is the central activity of the congregation and the first contact for new people. It has highest priority in our program areas.

The celebration of the Lord's Supper occurs monthly, underlining the importance of the sacrament for the spiritual nurture of the people. Baptized children are encouraged and welcomed at the table. We hold special services including Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Christmas Eve candlelight communion service and an Easter sunrise service and communion at the Easter Sunday service.

The Music Team energizes worship with weekly anthems, a Praise Band. Volunteers welcome our members and hand out bulletins. A friendship register is passed around every Sunday and the Minister and Elders follow-up on new members and visitors. We also have volunteers on a Prayer team for anyone who wishes to have a special prayer. We celebrate the life of the congregation with birthdays and anniversaries as well as a story time for children before they leave for nursery and Sunday school. We will continue to respect and integrate different styles of worship and to encourage more youth to take part in church activities.
